Old Photos

Nan's wedding photo

Do you love old photos?
I do.
I remember sitting with my Nan and going through her old brown port of photos.
All just thrown in, no order, no system.
She'd tell me who was in each photo...with an accompanying story.
I loved those times.
My Nan is no longer with us and I think all of those photos went to my aunty.

Tonight I was wondering about our future generations.
I probably love digital photography more than just about anybody.
But it got me thinking...
Will our kids have old photos to look at?
Will I be able to sit with my grandkids and tell the stories of the photos?

What was once rare and precious, is now plentiful and abundant.
Do we have too many photos now?

Autumn In Our Local Park

I love the colours of Autumn.
Unfortunately, we don't see many around here, it's still very green...
which is still nice...
but the park close to us is proudly displaying some Autumn loveliness.

I'm doing my hill walk.

I love these two houses at the top of our hill.
I imagine they were fairly similar when they were built.
Love how they've been renovated completely differently.

But for now we're walking down this one.

This field was completely under water during the flood.

Sleeping Angel

I bought my two year old little girl some new Winter pyjamas this morning.  She wanted to try them on then she wouldn't take them off because she loves ducks, so she's been wearing them all day.

She was just playing quietly in her room and asked for a bottle (that usually means she's tired).  I told her to lie on her bed for a sleep and she said, "No." She was so busy.

Then all was quiet.

I went to investigate and saw this.

Our Town

I went for a Sunday afternoon stroll today for one hour and took my camera with me.
I thought I'd take you on a tour of our town.
Technically it's a city, but no one really calls it that.
It's not really a country town or a coastal town.
It's just a big town in south east Queensland.
We didn't choose to live here. Well, we had the choice between here or another town that is smaller and further away so I guess we did choose to live here.
We will probably move some day.
But for now, however, it's our town and our home.

This is the view from our place. We see car parks, the back of shops and the main street is just behind the rusty old roof...

There are gaudy shops, beautifully restored houses and a big old state school on top of the hill...

There are lots of lovely Queenslanders...

Grand old homes...

Churches and schools...

Pubs...

Our fire station...

A walking bridge over the railway line...

The old railway station, home of the steam train that we still haven't been on...

It's a hilly town and I love walking along one particular street where I can see the hills in the distance on both sides...

Walking back towards the centre of town, I can see my house from here...

The Civic Centre has just been dolled up...

The library is still daggy...

I love this antique store...

The Council Building has a clock tower and the bells chime every hour...

The gardens and parks are impressive...

Especially the miner's memorial park which has recently been restored...

The main street is quaint...

The main street stage and ampitheatre with it's mosaic mural...

And today is Anzac Day.  We have a memorial lane and this afternoon the gates were covered with new wreaths and the flame was still burning...
