Is taking out the rubbish really that bad?
My husband just said, "I'm sick of taking the rubbish out. (The five year old boy) can do it."
I said, "He's not going to do that." He does nothing.
My husband said, "Well, can you try and get him to? I'm sick of it."
Ha! Ah, yeah, OK.....NOT!
I'm sick of cooking dinner every night, can the five year old do that for me?
I'm sick of washing up, can the five year old do that for me?
I'm sick of changing nappies, can the five year old do that for me?
I'm sick of grocery shopping, can the five year old do that for me?
I'm sick of ironing, can the five year old do that for me?
I'm sick of doing the housework, can the five year old do that for me?
I'm sick of getting up every night to give the two year old a bottle, can the five year old do that for me?
I'm sick of wiping the five year old's bot-bot, can the five year old do that? (Wish he would!)
Dear Husband,
All you have to do is take out the rubbish and wheel the wheelie bins to the curb (I do do that when you forget but it is a bit difficult for a 5'2" me who is a bit co-ordination challenged to wheel very heavy bins down a steep, grassy slope).
Granted you do do ALL the outside work. You have single-handedly transformed our desolate block into a tropical resort style oasis. You have single-handedly painted the whole house, inside and out. You have single-handedly put up fences, changed the guttering and put in drainage.
OK, I'll ask the five year old boy if he'll take out the rubbish. But I don't like your chances...just saying.

Oh hon - Images of a 5 year old with large plastic sack of rubbish strenuiously struggling to the bin are dancing through my brain-
ReplyDeleteor alternately what my 5 yr old would have done and gone through the rubbish because he saw something interesting or shiny - leaving the remaining rubbish to be cleaned up again...give it at least another 3 years..then he might.
Oh and the bottom wiping - gets very wearing does it not - HOW LONG after toilet training must this continue????
