Summer, How I Hate Thee - Let Me Count The Ways

How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways.
I hate thy heat and blazing sun and high humidity
My soul is drained, I wish you were out of sight
For it seems you never end and there is no respite.
I hate thee everyday
When I am soaked, and sweaty and stinky.
I hate thee loudly, as I whinge every night;
I hate thee totally, and I want thee to be gone.
I hate thee with a passion
In my old pj's, even though I loved you in my youth.
I hate thee every day you will not go away
I hate thee with every breath,
Grimaces, beads of sweat, with of all my being! --- and, if God choose,
I could love thee but only if my world was air-conditioned.

  1. Oh air conditioning. I too, would hate summer without it. Great poem!

  2. It's so funny, so many of my blogging friends here in the States are all posting about how cold and snowy and miserable it is outside! I guess the grass is definitely always greener, isn't it!

It really is a great poem!

  3. I am a new reader but just had to comment because a) I enjoyed your poem and b) I think it is completely spooky that you, myself and Kellyanasapansa all used the phrase "How I love thee" in today's post! Is it just me or is that weird?

  6. Love the poem. I was planning a "not a summer person" post myself last week, but it was too hot to sit at my computer and type.

I long for air-conditioning, but my husband (who works in an air-conditioned office all day) doesn't seem to think it is necessary at home. >:-|

  7. This was so funny and I LOVED it!

Although, can't agree with you here I'm afraid. Ok, just a little. I love the warm weather. Right now, we're getting the weather in the late 20s, early 30s, but DRY! HATE humidity. I don't like the cold.

    You little poet, you!

  11. Love it.

I can't believe I've only had airconditioning in the house I live in now, I had my 3 babies in non-aircon houses!

  13. I CANNOT FREAKING WAIT until winter. I should live in Norway, or Antarctica or something. I adore being cold.

Isn't it great that for the last week there have been no stifling days? I think it's great :)

    Such a great post :)
