A Sonnet For My Son

If you cringed at my attempt at poetry yesterday, I'm sorry, I have bad news for you.  Here's one more.  I couldn't write one for my daughter and not one for my son.  Luckily I only have two children!

A Sonnet For My Son

How wonderful it was, the day you came into my world,
It was forever changed, a day unlike another.
For that was the day that it all unfurled,
My dream became real, I was your mother.

I had longed for you for the longest time,
And then you were here, my dear baby boy.
When you arrived you were totally divine,
I was elated, you were the purest of joy.

And now you're at school, no longer a baby,
So tall, smart and handsome, clever and bright.
You are my world there is no doubt or maybe
I dare not blink lest you age overnight.

A Heaven sent gift, is what you are to me,
My gorgeous brown eyed boy, is what you'll always be.
