Sunday Session

New rules - there are no rules!
On Sundays I play music on my blog.
Old or new or in between.
Related or not.
But always songs I love!
Here are my picks for this week.
You can play along by linking up below.
Can't wait to hear your picks.

Happy Sunday!

On Friday night my husband took me out for dinner and an overnight stay for my birthday at the resort near his parents place...child free! It is really handy having a resort close to your in-laws!
Last time we dined there they didn't have live music and I was wishing they did.
So I was very pleasantly surprised to walk in and see a geee-tar man setting up and warming up.

As we sat sipping cocktails...oh yes we did...we were guessing what kind of music he might play and what he would sound like.

To give you some idea, he looked daggy....really daggy!
He was about our age, but forgot that he wasn't living in the 80s anymore.

Anyhow, I thought he would definitely play some Van Morrison stuff and probably a bit of Eric Clapton.
I said he might sound a bit like Christopher Cross. Or even John Denver, given that he looked quite a bit like him! I've never been a John Denver fan so I didn't have very high expectations.

And guess what?
He sounded like a mix between Christopher Cross and John Denver...and sang Layla!
Full marks for me!

So, with all of that rambling in mind, this week's Sunday Session is inspired by Geeeee-tar Man.
Who we did end up enjoying, it was very nice dinner music.

  1. How nice for you to have a night off! My partner and I analyse muso's the same sort of way, except that we are muso's and pick things apart. lol. No wonder I get nervous on the rare occasion that I perform! I know what people say/think!!! But that comes with the territory. Happy Sunday x

  2. Ooh, a child-free night! Lucky you!

It's a good thing he didn't play children's music! I remember staying in a resort and having dinner in the restaurant where there was a gee-tar man. None of the grown-ups were paying much attention to the music, but the children in the restaurant took a keen interest, so he started to play Wiggles tunes, much to the delight of the little ones.

Come to think of it, you'd probably enjoy that, but maybe not on a romantic evening with hubby. ;-)

  3. Phew! Lucky the gee-tar man sang well and sang the right songs too. Love all three songs - classics in my opinion. :)

  4. I love every one of these songs!

Glad you got a night out.

Do you know what I always hate about live musicians at a quiet dinner? I always feel guilty if I talk to Joel..like I'm being rude. Except, I came out for dinner to be with Joel, to talk to him and connect.

    What's the etiquette?

  7. Melissa - luckily he was far enough away from the tables for us to not feel guilty talking. Because I'm with you, you go out to dinner, hopefully you get to talk to your husband!!

Tina - no worries, I've done that before. I just deleted one for you. :)
